Care for Hedland have a big weekend planned thanks to support from Greening Australia and Rangelands NRM with two experts here giving free seminars about our river systems and landscape function and coastal geomorphology, all of which is leading up to mangrove rehabilitation work at the mouth of the De Grey River.

Friday 25thJuly; at the Port Hedland Pony Club from 5pm join Peter Andrews OAM, author of Back from the Brink and Beyond the Brink for a hands on talk about how our landscape and river systems work and what we need to do to restore the Australian landscape and in particular the De Grey River.

Saturday 26thJuly; join us at De Grey Station (meeting at the turn off at 845am) and finishing at 12pm to hear more about how the hydrology of the area works as well as learn all about the coastal geomorphology from leading coastal scientist Prof Andrew Short OAM. We will also talk about the upcoming mangrove rehabilitation work that will be happening in August. Feel free to bring along fishing gear and a picnic lunch and enjoy your afternoon by the river.

RSVP to either coordinator@careforhedland.org.auor pshort@gawa.org.au if you wish to attend either of these sessions.
