Native Plants in the Pilbara Garden - Workshop Review
Saturday 31 December 2011
Firstly a BIG thankyou to everyone who took the time to RSVP to the Native Plants Workshop. It definitely makes the organisers’ job a little easier when they have an idea of how many people are planning to attend. It was a fabulous morning with our wonderful host Mike from OutBack Trees and everyone left converts to the benefits of growing Pilbara native plants.
Mike definitely blew the myth out of the water that Pilbara plants are prickly scraggly little pests who don't rate highly in the beauty stakes. You might now consider pacing out an area in your yard to devote to these water wise beauties and look forward to showing off your new native garden in the future, plus enjoying the benefits of creating a haven for native birds in your yard.
Mike will be sending through a list of recommended plants that we can take to our local nurseries to see if they can order them in for anyone who would like to have a go at growing these very low maintenance plants. We’ll publish the list here shortly, so watch this space, and keep checking in for details of the next workshop.
So, thanks again to Mike Cheney at Outback trees for their support of our Garden Club and Hedland Well Womens Centre WOW month.
Happy gardening Hedlanders!
