South Hedland Street Blitz 2016

Teams Sought To Take Part In This Year’s Street Blitz Competition

To Tackle Rubbish at Scadden Rd / 2 Mile in South Hedland

The Care For Hedland Environmental Association is again putting out a call to all local business and community organisations to join with them to compete in this year’s 2016 South Hedland Street Blitz events at Scadden Road on the 25th of June and the 16th of July at 8am both days.

The Competition which again is running in its 10th year, was originally devised as an idea to help promote town pride and neighbours working together.  With the issue of litter still as prevalent as ever, the South Hedland Street Blitz Competition is again being used as a creative way to draw attention to the negative impact of litter on the environment and as a vehicle so that together as a community, the issue of litter can be addressed head on through providing the opportunity for all to roll up the sleeves and help clean South Hedland.

This year, the Association is inviting all business, community groups, friends and individuals, young and old to have a team.  Teams are a minimum of 5 people and are able to use any equipment that they may have to pick up rubbish. The Teams can participate in one or both of the events. With the overall winner being announced at the second event.

This year’s Competition is concentrating on Scadden Rd also known as 2 Mile and each team will have a designated area to be cleaned.

Bright yellow competition t-shirts will be provided to all participating team members and again local “Celebrity Judges” will be used to judge all teams’ efforts and select a winner.

All teams will be competing for the honour of being awarded the South Hedland Street Blitz Trophy, with engraved name plate.  This will be presented at the free celebratory BBQ to be held at the clean up site on Scadden Rd at the conclusion of the second event (9.30am).

To register your interest in entering a team in to the 2016 South Hedland Street Blitz Competition please contact Care For Hedland Environmental Association Coordinator Melissa Wood (mob) 0488 907 260  or email  coordinator@careforhedland.org.au
