Garden Club
The Hedland Garden Club is the first of its kind and was run solely by Care for Hedland volunteers all of whom have a passion for gardening and an interest in helping to make the local town a more vibrant place to live. However we have recently appointed Pip Short the first ever Garden Club Program Coordinator.
As the Pilbara offers a unique climate and sometimes unique challenges when it comes to gardening, the club aims to provide a forum for problem solving and sharing in the hope of achieving great results for thriving plants. During the cooler months the club kicks into action with monthly gatherings ranging from casual show and tells to formal workshops. From palms to permaculture, the club aims to have a little bit of something for everyone. Whether you have a garden, want a garden, or are just up for a social chat new members are warmly welcomed. Club gatherings allow for members to share their gardening secrets on what works and what doesn’t work in this amazing climate of ours.
Winter is topped off with the annual Hedland Garden Club Garden Competition where Port and South Hedland gardeners are invited to show off their gardens; whether they be veggie patches or rock gardens! Prizes are awarded for the best entrants and bragging rights are there for the winners.
The Hedland Garden Club hopes to inspire the community to be actively involved in home gardening and be rewarded with the delights of blossoming plants and fresh, healthy produce.
